AMR FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

AMR is an escalating threat to global health, development, and security, and now is a critical moment to sustain and strengthen political commitment as international AMR responses are being renegotiated amid geopolitical shifts, evolving global governance processes, and reductions in global health financing.

Tackling AMR aligns with our mission to sustain global health solutions at the intersection of health and foreign policy. We leverage diplomacy to foster cross-sector dialogue and a One Health approach through international cooperation, collaborative governance, scientific advancement, community engagement, and integrated policies to address this urgent, multifaceted challenge.

We support advancing integrated One Health solutions towards:

  • Infection Prevention and Control and WASH
  • AMR Stewardship
  • Cross-sectoral surveillance
  • Vaccination of humans and animals
  • Access to effective quality-assured antimicrobials and diagnostics
  • Innovation and Research and Development
  • Sustainable Financing
  • Evidence based integrated policies

We work collaboratively with civil society organizations, community-led initiatives, academia, multilateral donor agencies, philanthropic organizations, member states, permanent missions, and the private sector. Through projects, campaigns, events, and initiatives, we leverage synergies, foster cooperation, and work together to advance and sustain global momentum on AMR solutions.

We have promoted inclusive, integrated approaches to address AMR at the 2024 High-Level Meeting on AMR, the 4th Global High-Level Ministerial Conference on AMR, and the consultation process of the Independent Panel on Evidence for Action against AMR. We have also advanced AMR within the 2025 High-Level Meeting on Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health and the Pandemic Agreement negotiations. We will continue to support updates to the Global Action Plan on AMR and the explicit inclusion of AMR in the Political Declaration on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response.

We have convened crucial stakeholders across sectors and organized impactful AMR initiatives at the local, regional, and global levels.

Our initiatives include:

We are developing a collaborative initiative called “Click the Box” to enhance the monitoring of political commitments on AMR and to advance coordinated action nationally and globally. We invite partners to support this effort through engagement, knowledge-sharing, and other contributions that strengthen our collective impact.

We are pleased to collaborate with organizations sharing our vision to engage political commitment towards an AMR-free world.
