The Health Diplomacy Alliance is registered under Art. 60–79 of the Swiss Civil Code and recognized as a public utility serving the general interest by the Canton of Geneva.
The Board is composed of experts in international relations, public health, and philanthropy, providing strategic and legal oversight with professional independence.
The General Assembly ensures accountability and alignment with the Alliance’s mission, with responsibilities including approval of annual reports, nomination and removal of Board members and external auditors, and admission and exclusion of Alliance members.
HDA was created in response to a growing gap between health priorities and political decision-making, with health diplomacy as its answer. Drawing on experience across health policy and diplomacy, the Founder shapes the Alliance's strategic direction, anchored in a multilateral ecosystem and regional engagement.
The Alliance began in 2020 as a pre-incubation initiative, with a clear objective: to strengthen health diplomacy as a policy instrument for addressing the world's most pressing health challenges. In January 2024, HDA was formally established in Geneva, Switzerland, with a mandate dedicated to health diplomacy. It operates at the crossroads of health and power dynamics, where political interests can shape, and sometimes limit, collective action
